British artillery.

Catapult.

The new artillery sets for my british army are ready.
Are two sets from Great War miniatures, a catpult and a mortar team.

The miniatures are fantastic, and I tried to paint as well as possible, and I think are very nice.
The most difficult was simulate the trench, when I was making the base for the sets.
I made those bases with some wooden sticks -Ice cream sticks- sand and glue. I think, also, is a good work.
What do you think?

Hache forest assault.

The battlefield. German View.

To try a new set of rules for WWI, too fat lardies, If the lord spares us, we played an small assault during Arras battle.
The germans must defend, at least, their second line of trenches, and the british must assault and conquer the german second line of trenches.
To do this, the british had 10 turns.

The battlefield. British view.

British assault were too slow in the first turns, and this was the bigger problem for them during the battle. Also, the germans were very lucky with the dices, destroying a british unit in the first turn.

German defending their trenches,

Finally, the british, pressing the german, force them to retreat to the second line, but is too late. One small british unit tried to assault the german second line, but was a disaster for them, all the unit were destroyed by the germans.

British assaulting.

A very funny and quick battle, for a set of rules very interesting, fun as can be the lardies.

German retreat.

Roma Vs Carthago.

We were playing last morning an small battle between Romans and Carthginians.
As is usual, we played with WAB 2.0 rules and the book Hannibal and the punic wars.
The two small armies were formed by four groups of skirmishers, two cavalry units, and a core of republican legion for the romans, and african infantry for the carthaginians, supported for a big gaul warband and an elephant. After the first movements turns, the carthaginians flanked the romans with cavalry, gauls, and skirmishers. One roman cavalry unit was routed, and the other charged by the elephant. The hastati turn to face the cavlary units behind them, and the skirmishers were running out the battlefield. Carthaginian maniouvres were perfect, and the trap closed over the romans.
But gods of war were in Rome this morning. The elephant was wounded by the roman cavalry, and disbanded, attacking all troops in the battlefield. Carthaginians skirmisers ran out the elephant, also the cavlary, and finally, the gauls were far from african infantry to help them, and finally, the africans micght surrender to the Roman legions.

Maria Luisa Hussars II

The Maria Luisa Hussars were the first regiment of Hussars in Spanish army during Peninsular war or Spanish war of independence. Were forming for 640 men and around 400 horses.
At the begining of the war Maria Luisa hussars were quartered in Badajoz, joining to Extremadura army .

There are few books about spanish hussars, one of them is this, Los Husares españoles en la guerra de independencia, Almena editons.

Maria Luisa Hussars.

This is the first group of hussars for my 15mm Spanish army for Lasalle.
For this unit of Hussars, I was looking for a unit of hussars dressing as the ancient form, and I decided that Maria Luisa hussars, were a very interesting unit in Spanish army.
The group are the Leader, with red coat, the musician in the middle, and a hussar charging.
