OH-6 A CAYUSE

This is a 1/72 model to play Too fat Lardies Charlie don´t surf rules. Is a plastic model from Italeri, made and painted for my club partner and friend, Anibal invictus, the spanish bigger lardie´s fan.

Very easy to made, and very quick, is perfect for attack helis on the board game, flying over the 28mm minis.

I painted the  heli crystals, because I think is better for minis and models, looks... better in a game...I don´t know, may be are extrange, but  I like a lot!!!
What do you think about?

The OH-6 A CAYUSE, was an attack, LOH, or recon heli during Vietnam war. This heli won fame as quick and reliable. Perfect to support land troops and move quickly special forces.
After the war, in the early 70´s were replaced by OH-58 Kiowa.

Regia Marina Zara & HMS Hood.

Two WWII ships more.

HMS Hood.

Both are skytrex models 1/3000 scale.
The first is the HMS Hood, the last battle cruiser in the Royal Navy, and, the last victim of the Bismarck.
I painted with a grey pattern and the classic wooden brige for the british ships.

Regia Marina Zara.

The other ship is the first Zara class, named, of course, Zara, a heavy cruiser. This class was an inprove of the Trento class, and are formed by four ships, Zara, Gorizia, Pola and Fiume.
To paint this ship, I had four pictures, different between them. I choose a picture from 1943, also a grey pattern with the red and white bridge.

We began to play during this spring, in our club, battles with a different set of rules, because, we played  Victory at sea rules, but are not good rules for big battles. Now we are trying to play, the old rules named General quarters... and after two battles, I don´t know. I prefer Victory at sea.

Panzer III Platoon.

After a month with no entries to my blog, I come back stronger and with a lot of news.
The first of all is my new Panzer III for flames of war and blitzkrieg commander.

 panzer III platoon.

This is a set of five models from battlefront mniatures, and are painted to play battles in Africa theater or Sicily.

 Panzer III details.

I painted the tanks in two different ways, with GW chestnut ink, or with GW black ink. After, I was paint the two first tanks, I asked to my friends in my club what tank they prefer. All of them answered, the black ink one.
And, I painted the other three with black ink.

 Tank details and command chariot.

I also prefer this way to paint the chariots.

Hittite warriors.

This is my first finished hittite warriors unit for WAB.
Is a twenty men unit, equiped with thrusting spear, hand weapon and shield, and with no command group.

The miniatuers are from caesar miniatures, the only one company that make 1/72 plastic hittite miniatures. They are very nice minis, with an excellent quality.
I painted following osprey guides and some university and archeological books about Mesopotamia and the bronze and biblical ages.
The bases are from kallistra company and mars ultor, each one is 20mm front and 40mm side with two models/base. Are covering with sand and painted with browns and greys colours, as the mountain lands in Anatolia mountains where the hittitrs lived.

Next project for this unit is buy and paint a command group from New line designs.

Mummies

They are the strongest players and the core of my team, Athletic Calvario, the bloodbowl version of Ahtletic Bilbao, my favourite team in spanish football league.

Mummie

My next bloodbowl project is paint a goblin team, as Celtic Glasgow ( I think is ridiculous, green over green, but is not my decission) for one of my club partners.

Dark elf assassin.

Following with my GW painting time, I stopped with my blood bowl team, to paint a different miniature, a dark elf assassin, from and old GW box.

Is a plastic model, I don´t know from what game, warhammer quest I think, I bought ten years ago, this model were in box, for kids, with heroes for Warhammer fantasy battles.

To paint it, I painted over black, chaos black, and dry brushes with german grey and imperial purple. For the knife, german grey, dry brush with boltgun metal, jade green over the blade, and some blood red.
I finished the miniature in more or less one hour. Quick and easy to paint.
To finish the model, I painted a chaos warrior head, and I put between the assassin feets.

Painting...

A good, and rare model for my dark elf army.

Blood bowl undead team II. Ghouls and skeletons.

The end is near, I finished the ghouls and the skeleton players, and to finish the Ahletic Bilbao undeads, I only must paint the mummies.

Skeletons and ghouls.

I had no problema with the skeletons, they are easy to paint, and the final work is very nice, but twith the ghouls, I tried to paint one of them, as a cyanotic human.
I don´t like much the model finished... is, too much GW.
I painted over black, with GW imperial purple, blue wash, and first light with elf flesh and second light with pale flesh. Highlighs with white.
I don´t know...

The great unclean one.

I painted this model, more or less ten or eleven years ago.
One week ago, looking for old models to make the base, I found this GW great demon of Nurgle. It was painted with the old GW colours, and looks like a cucumber with horns.

Front view.

I decided, give a better look, and, over the green skin, I painted with some flesh paint.
It was look better.
Ok, I thought, maybe, I can paint a leg with flesh paint.
And I painted.

Right view.

The model looks fantastic!!! and I began to oaint all the model.
First the head, front body, rear body, right arm and sword, right leg, and left arm.
After five days, I finished the model. And the final work, is, incredible.

Rear view.

The skin was painted with dwarf flesh, flesh wash, 1º light with darf flesh, 2º elf flesh and for the highlights, an old GW pale flesh colour.
This model have a long tonge, but, when I made, prefer remove this tonge, because, give to the model a look ridiculous, and is a demon!!!

Blood bowl vintage III.

I finished my vintage blood bowl players.
I painted each player, with a different football team colour scheme:
The chaos dwarf with Newcastle United colours.
The chaos player with Manchester United colours.
The dark elf with Inter Milan colours.

Three vintage miniatures.

Remembering Nobby Styles, I decided paint the chaos player as a Manchester Utd player. I prefer the black trousers because I think looks better, for a chaos player, than the white trousers.
The miniature looks very, well, and, is my favourite of the three vintage miniatures.

Chaos player.

The dark elf, was paint, looking a picture about Inter defender, Cordoba. His uniform is the common for Inter players, but his boots are yellow. I think, a pair of black boots looks better for a dark elf, but a different colour boots, give the player, the look, that I am try to give my players, as modern football players, where, every day is most common the colour boots, white, yellow, red...

Dark elf lineman.

The last miniature, the Newcastle Utd chaos dwarf was paint, looking a Coloccini picture, the argentinian captain of Newcastle. The colour scheme is similar to the dark elf, the boots, as Coloccini boots, are white.
This was the most difficult miniature to paint, because is full of armour, and I hate paint the armour with colours, I only like for the armours, metal and black.
To give a solution to this problem, I painted the shoulders with black and white stripes, also, I hate paint the shoulders, but, I had no choice, the armour or the shoulders.
The shoulders.

Blood bowl undead team. Zombies and wights.

The blood bowl league is coming to my club!!!
I am painting my team for the league, is an undead team with Ath Bilbao, my favourite team in spanish league, colours. Red and white stripes shirt and black trousers.

Zombies.

The first five miniatures that I finished are three zombies and the two wights of games workshop undead team box.
For the zombies I had no problems, I painted them taking some pictures about TV series and films as references.
The wights were a bigger problem.
I painted the first wight as a medieval knight, with a metal armour, withs three ink washes, chestnut, black and green, to give the armour an ancient look, and, in the knees and one shoulder the red and white stripes.

Wight.

As I wasn't convinced with this model, I decided change the colour scheme for the other wight. I painted a black armour, with tin biz, boltgun metal and german grey dry brushes. And in the edges of the shoulder and in the knees, the red and white stripes.

Wight

I like the zombies, I think the final work is very nice, but the wights... I don´t know.
Now I am finishing the skeletons...

Zombies and wights.
The wood elves are from Sergio De Miguel team. The stadium is from club Dragon collection.

WWII Vampire slayer.

This morning, I went to a very popular miniatures shop in Madrid, to change my old flames of war set of rules, for the new handbook set.
As usual, I was looking for new miniatures, books...
Looking the WWII warlord boxes, I found a very interesting box. A british soldier, I think is a MP, with a thompson, round model, submachine gun and a cross, and a German or Romanian officer, dressing a hussar uniform, with a big cloack, and the face of a vampire!!!!

The aristocratic vampire officer.

Great!!!
I thought, those miniatures are fantastic, I don´t know for what, because we play WWII games, but not with horror miniatures.
In one second I decided buy the box.
As I told, I don´t know what can I do with the miniatures. I think the soldier is right for WWII, and the vampire for WWI, but, the nazi eagle is in his uniform...
May be to play back of beyond, or fantastic/horror skirmish games, or to give a funny touch to our WWII games.

Blood bowl vintage II.

Following with my blood bowl teams, I painted my vintage flesh golem.
To paint the miniature, I didn´t think a lot, all my GW flesh colours, flesh wash, and dry brush, and dry brush...

rear view

For the team colours, I choose -I am painting my blood bowl teams as spanish football league teams- one of the most popular teams in Spain, Atletico de Madrid. I painted over one arm armour, red and white stripes, and blue in the other arm.

front view

I think is a very good add to my vintage miniature collection, and to start a necromantic blood bowl team.

Blood bowl vintage.

One of my club partners, sold me last sunday a big box with around 100 GW vintage miniatures, from 1985 to 1990. Some of them were blood bowl players.

Dark elf lineman

Flesh golem

Chaos dawrf lineman

Chaos player

I was looking for references about those miniatures, but I found, only about the dark elf lineman, and some chaos players like my chaos players, I bought the same miniature two times.
The most interesting, for me, is the golem, I couldn´t find pictures or references about this rare miniature.
The last player, the chaos dwarf is not similar to the classic chaos dwarfs. Those dwarfs are like persians, but this dwarf is like WWI germans, but with shark theeth.

Assyrians vs Egyptians.

From 740 to 627 Bc, Assyrian empire under kings as Tiglath Pilesser, Senaquerib, Salmanssar, or Asurbanipal rules Mesopotamia, and conquered Canaan, and Egypt.
They fought only one big battle, in egyptian border in Sinai.
The egyptian army were destroy.

Clash of chariots

The battle we played, is a fictional assyrian attack in canaan border.
We played, as usual, with WAB 2.0 rules, and with 20mm-1/72 models.
We used zvezda, caesar, atlantic, and new line designs models for this battle.

Clash of Chariots and cavalry

Egyptian line

The egyptian army were large and quickly, but poor armoured, the assyrians, were less people than the egyptians, but stronger and very well armoured.
This battle, was a very slow battle, where the egyptians attacks with all their chariotry the assyrian left wing, trying to involve, and fleeing the left wing from the assyrian cavalry in the right wing.
The Assyrian deploy were classical, with an strong battle line, to try to cut in the middle the egyptian army.
After four hours fighting, we decided, no one of them can break the other.
Usualy, the assyrian army is superior to egyptian army, but, the god of dices, was angry with assyrians, and the rest is history...

WWII Ships.

For my fleets for Victory at sea, 1/3000 scale, I add four new ships.
I was buying Navwar ships for my Japanese, German and USa fleets, this company make excellent models for WWI and WWII wars, but those models are from Skytrex.
The models are very good, but I think are smaller than navwar. But this is not a problem to mix miniatures form both companies in your fleets.
They are very easy to paint, and look very nice whith more ships sailing to meet the enemy fleet!

The first is the german pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee, a Deutschland class heavy cruiser.

The other three are Gato class submarines for USA fleet.

Are the SS 212 Gato, SS 213 Greenling and SS214 Grouper.
