WWII Vampire slayer.

This morning, I went to a very popular miniatures shop in Madrid, to change my old flames of war set of rules, for the new handbook set.
As usual, I was looking for new miniatures, books...
Looking the WWII warlord boxes, I found a very interesting box. A british soldier, I think is a MP, with a thompson, round model, submachine gun and a cross, and a German or Romanian officer, dressing a hussar uniform, with a big cloack, and the face of a vampire!!!!

The aristocratic vampire officer.

Great!!!
I thought, those miniatures are fantastic, I don´t know for what, because we play WWII games, but not with horror miniatures.
In one second I decided buy the box.
As I told, I don´t know what can I do with the miniatures. I think the soldier is right for WWII, and the vampire for WWI, but, the nazi eagle is in his uniform...
May be to play back of beyond, or fantastic/horror skirmish games, or to give a funny touch to our WWII games.

For king & country.

Is not usually, for us, play WWI cavalry battles, and of course, not in the western front.
Our last game, was a battle in Belgium, where the germans, must defend a town, and the british, covered by an snow storm must flank the town with cavalry, and attack the germans to the rear.
This was the plan.
The german forces were five platoons with two heavy MGs, and they must defend the town. The british were two cavalry squads, two armoured cars, and a 18 pdr gun.
The cars covered by the snow, and covering the gun marching by the road, and the cavalry squads, each one to the left and to the right, to flank the germans.
The cars were too slow, and the cavalry passed the cars in second turn.
The right squad were stopped by the german MGs fire, but the left squad charged to a german platoon. The platoon were destroy, but the cavalry must retreat.
The rest of the battle were the british cavalry trying to move, the armoured cars firing but do it nothing, and the gun suffered a lot of german fire, and after one turn they retreat after fire one tiem.

The battlefield.

British advance.

German forces defending the town.

German view.

Last british charge.

I think is a very funny scenary, but small, if you want a flank move by the cavalry, also, in our game, the germans were lucky, because the MGs places were right to stop the right cavalry squads. In twelve turns, I think, right squads fired, I don´t know, but, may be one or two times!!!!

British MG team.

The last add to my WWI british army is a heavy machine gun team.

The team is firing in an open field, may be during an advance of he british army to the german trenches or to an empty town.

British artillery.

Catapult.

The new artillery sets for my british army are ready.
Are two sets from Great War miniatures, a catpult and a mortar team.

The miniatures are fantastic, and I tried to paint as well as possible, and I think are very nice.
The most difficult was simulate the trench, when I was making the base for the sets.
I made those bases with some wooden sticks -Ice cream sticks- sand and glue. I think, also, is a good work.
What do you think?

Mortar.

Hache forest assault.

The battlefield. German View.

To try a new set of rules for WWI, too fat lardies, If the lord spares us, we played an small assault during Arras battle.
The germans must defend, at least, their second line of trenches, and the british must assault and conquer the german second line of trenches.
To do this, the british had 10 turns.

The battlefield. British view.

British assault were too slow in the first turns, and this was the bigger problem for them during the battle. Also, the germans were very lucky with the dices, destroying a british unit in the first turn.

German defending their trenches,

Finally, the british, pressing the german, force them to retreat to the second line, but is too late. One small british unit tried to assault the german second line, but was a disaster for them, all the unit were destroyed by the germans.

British assaulting.

A very funny and quick battle, for a set of rules very interesting, fun as can be the lardies.

German retreat.
